The Final Fantasy 7 remake looks absolutely incredible
07 December 2015

On 31 January 1997, PlayStation owners were given a new obsession.

Final Fantasy 7 was vast. You could pour 60 hours of your life (and we did) into its boss battles. The soundtrack alone was released on a four-disc collection.

This improbable scope might go some way to explaining why the Final Fantasy 7 remake won't arrive until late 2016 - maybe even 2017. And on the evidence of the latest gameplay railer, that's a crying shame.

Square Enix has state that the new version of its classic title will "be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience". So, downloadable instalments? Separate character chapters that culminate in one final game? We've got many months to find out.
