This year’s EGX games event at Birmingham’s NEC is giving UK gamers their first chance to get their thumbs on a host of hotly anticipated titles.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The latest COD title is breaking away from its soil-and-soldiers roots, heading boldly toward space age combat. This primarily results in using even more gadgets to take down your foe, from anti-gravity grenades to deep space dog fights. It’s the fastest, most polished COD in years.

Dishonored 2

The slick stealth’n’sneak action of 2012’s Dishonored returns, with its gorgeous sequel looking to crank up the chaos: every action you take in the Empire of the Isles will change the playing environment. Be careful who you kill in this global first play.

Battlefield 1

Missed the online beta? EGX is giving you another chance to sample the relentless trench action of Battlefield 1’s multiplayer experience, with up to 64 players facing off in tanks, biplanes, zeppelins and (if you're brave enough) on foot.

A UK first live play

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Robot dinosaurs. Two words that should get you very excited for this stunning apocalyptic role-playing game. You take on the role of skilled hunter Aloy as you explore a vibrant and lush world inhabited by mysterious mechanized creatures.

Yooka-Laylee

Miss the simpler days of gaming? Then you’ll want to get to grips with the global first play of this vibrant action platformer – built by many of the same team who brought you the N64 classic Banjo-Kazooie

EGX takes place 22nd to 25th September at the Birmingham NEC. Tickets are available at www.egx.net
