Break up the tedium of the Tube

Compete with other commuters to control London

Break up the tedium of the Tube
19 April 2011

Finally, commuters could soon be looking a lot less glum when travelling on the Tube. Londoners, or even those frequently visiting the capital, can take part in a brand new online multiplayer game that offers players the chance to ‘capture’ stations on the city’s world-famous Underground.

Called Chromaroma, the game uses Oyster cards and Cycle Hire Scheme keys to tap individual players in and out of Tube stops.

Gamers are divided into four colour-coded teams, with players on each team gaining points for tapping in or out of a station. The team with the most taps at that moment “owns” that station.

At the end of the season, the team that owns the most stations is crowned the victor.

The game, which launched earlier this month, enables players to participate either as themselves or a fictional character, and features additional missions alongside the point-scoring, as well as access to a vibrant online community all centred on the greatest city in the world. At long last, travelling on the Tube is made fun.
