When artificial intelligence isn't busy terrorising the internet or beating humans at their own games, it can be found doing charming, silly things - like learning to recognise the difference between human beings and dogs.

Wait, that's still kind of creepy isn't it?

But that's what Microsoft's new AI experiment, CaptionBot, is currently doing.

The creation of Microsoft Cognitive Services, visitors to CaptionBot.ai can upload any image to the system, which then analyses it with a combination of Computer Vision and Natural Language to assign a description of the image based on its internal learnings. 

We pumped some images into the bot to see how it would do. Judge the results below (hint: it's not about to take over the world any time soon).
