This 'Rifle' Can Take Out A Drone Without Bullets

Are you the kind of person who freaks out at a moth bombing around your living room, but refuses to kill the thing?

Do you have the same attitude towards drones?

Then you need one of these.

This is the Battelle DroneDefender, a 'rifle' that can be used to overpower the signals that control a drone, allowing you to guide it harmlessly to the ground. Or the nearest river, if you're an arse.

Battelle states that the DroneDefender has a range of 400 metres, with the aim to help authorities guard against malicious attacks from quadcopters and small-scale drones.

At present, the 'rifle' is only available to US federal authorities, but Battelle is "exploring" the regulations around the device with the hope of making it more widely available.

Set to go into production next year, those stories about drones delivering drugs to prisons might soon be a thing of the past.
