The super simple Light Phone is going to make you more productive

"Designed to be used as little as possible" isn't the usual sell for a mobile. But then, the Light Phone isn't trying to be normal.

This credit card-sized gadget lacks an HD display, camera, headphone port or any of trinkets you probably forgot your current smartphone has. Instead, the 4mm thick (or rather, thin) Light Phone comes with 20 hours of battery juice, a pre-paid SIM and a simple interface that belies its two functions: as a standalone, slimline call-only phone, or a productivity-enhancing connection to your current smartphone.

The creation of Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang (Tang helped design Motorola's infamous Razr phone), the Light Phone is the antithesis of 'connected' technology: by pairing it with your smartphone via a partnering app, you can leave the "rings, dings and pings" at home, but be available for important calls that can be forwarded on to the Light Phone. Or, if you're heading to a festival or off on holiday and don't want to risk losing your £500-something phone in a field, you can leave it at home and pop this in your wallet.

Currently hurtling its way toward a funding goal on Kickstarter, you can order a Light Phone for £64 ($100).

Alternatively, you can overlook the connectivity idea altogether buy a simple brick like this for £20. It's literally your call.
