The Playlist App That Will Save Your Party

The Playlist App That Will Save Your Party
24 October 2014

Everyone has their own party playlist. And that's a problem. Thirty seconds into a divisive track and there's a queue around the speaker dock of guests eager to add their own tune to the mix. Enter the saviour of the party, DROP

Made by Jawbone, the creators of the slick wireless speaker range, DROP hopes to resolve all of your playlist disputes. Synchronising with your Spotify or Rdio service, DROP creates a playlist based on your favourite albums, tracks and artists. Should these differ to the tastes of your guests, they can contribute suggestions to the mix by tweeting a track name directly to your DROP playlist. DROP will then change the queue accordingly, adding in suggested artists and similar artists to the original list. Currently available in the US, DROP should be arriving in the UK soon.

It's an interesting solution to a common frustration - though we're unsure if it's open abuse: is it smart enough to stop one friend from eagerly over-tweeting their favourite Michael Bublé track into a dominant position on the playlist? Here's hoping you have more discerning friends.
