The No-board Skateboard

The No-board Skateboard

The No-board Skateboard

It's 2015 and the hoverboards we were promised have yet to arrive (but they're on order).

However, we're pleased to see that the quest for new methods of personal transport is yet to relent, with this intriguing skateboard replacement looking nicely futuristic.

The Sidewinding Circular Skates - a.k.a. the Post-Modern Skateboard - are a pair of 10 inch round wheels with platforms to stand on. They can operate independently - in the style of rollerblading - or be joined together with an extendable rod, to produce a more traditional skateboarding ride.

You can buy a pair for $99.95 (£67.08) from Hammacher Schlemmer; just click here to reach the shop.

They remind us of a previous contraption, the Snakeboard - but will the SCSs match the enormous cultural impact of that classic 90s invention? Compare and contrast the two devices in the videos below.
