The Neat Nano Arcade Machine

The Neat Nano Arcade Machine

The Neat Nano Arcade Machine
19 January 2015

Pac-Man. Street Fighter. Pole Position. Chances are one of these arcade titles made off with the better part of your juvenile savings, inspiring dreams of owning your own cabinet. Time to clear a (very small) space in your living room and start saving some coins - you're going to want to get your thumbs on a Nanoarcade.

Packing the original arcade experience into a tenth of its size, the Nanoarcade is a pint-sized arcade machine. Measuring 15cm in height, with a bulging joystick and six button set up, this tiny cabinet is fully portable - though it'll consume three AA eight hours in just eight hours of work-killing play time.

The Nanoarcade runs on a simple Java operating system, allowing you to download and run up to 15 Java-based titles by connecting the micro arcade to your computer via USB.

Sure your smartphone can play a whole bunch of arcade classics, probably with a lot more power - Nanoarcade is a system for gamers missing the nostalgic feel of a joystick and the "vwerp" of 8-bit soundtracks. Available from £33 with a variety of cabinet finishes, you can order your own small slice of old school gaming from the project's Kickstarter page. Now, brace yourself for an unapologetically retro demo video.
