It's been rumoured for a while, but Sony have finally confirmed the release of their smartphone lens attachments.

Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai took to the stage at IFA 2013 and unveiled the QX10 and its larger brother the QX100.

The device should give the RX level of imaging prowess, and will work with "almost any smartphone"; both feature Wi-Fi and one-touch connectivity. They'll be capable of "high-quality images and full HD videos" able to "rival a premium compact camera".

An Amazon preorder link went up before the official announcement, with a retail price of $248 (£159) for the QX10 and $498 (£319) for the QX100 - they're expected to go on sale later this month.
