We've all been there. You're 20 minutes late, about to miss your bus and desperately need to charge your phone. You can either prolong your absence for a further 10 minutes in the hope of gaining five percent more battery juice, or dash out and risk being unable to track down your friends. Or, you could take this skateboard.

A final year design project of Willem de Kooning Academy of art and design student Bjorn van den Hout, this elegant curve of wood is the Chargeboard. A multiskilled marvel, two dynamos in the board's rear axle charge an elegant battery pack attached to the underside of the deck. After an hour of cruising you'll have generated enough power to fully recharge your mobile.

And that's not the limit of the Chargeboard's talents. A speaker system is also built into the deck, allowing you to plug in your MP3 player via the 3.5mm headphone jack, or connecting your iPhone 4/4s via (an admittedly outdated) Apple dock.

Currently a design concept, you can always drop Hout a line on the Chargeboard site begging him to make you one.
