Moleskine's Ingenious Smart Notebook

Moleskine's Ingenious Smart Notebook

Moleskine's Ingenious Smart Notebook

The death of paper has been greatly exaggerated. While eBooks and touch screens might be the natural successor to print material, those who need to sketch, doodle and brainstorm are still best served by a scrap of good old fashioned, tree-made paper. But that doesn't mean that paper can't get an upgrade.

Moleskine, creators of those elegant notepads your mum always gives you at Christmas because "You're so hard to by for", have just launched their first smart notebook - without a screen or stylus in sight (but you will need a smartphone or tablet to make the magic happen).

The Smart Notebook works by partnering with a Moleskin app, turning hand-drawn entries into workable digital files. Having finished your sketch or drawing, you take a photo of the page using the accompanying app. Rather than ending up with an at-best-blurred image of your handiwork, the app recognises special markings on the paper to optimise the image for conversion to a JPG file. The app then sends the image to Adobe's Creative Cloud, letting you download the image on any connected device for tweaking on Illustrator or Photoshop.

Available from Moleskine's online store for £25.50, you're about to run out of excuses for not sharing those meeting minutes with the rest of the team.
