The Simple (And Cheaper) Way To Add ‘3D Touch’ Functions To Your Old iPhone

Your reason for getting an iPhone 6S just took a major hit.

While the build of Apple's latest incremental smartphone update left many underwhelmed, the new functions offered by the '3D Touch' screen were - for want of a better word - cool. Really cool

Essentially a 'Right Click' option for your iPhone, the 3D Touch screen is able to recognise the 'force' of your gestures, providing new shortcuts around your phone as a result: a light touch will give you a 'peek' at the content in your app. Keep pressing and it 'pops' you in. It's designed to see you spend less time tapping in and out of menus, and improve your productivity (or something like that).

As the peek and pop function requires the 3D Touch screen to work, anyone with an older iPhone will miss out on this new navigation option. Unless they download Launch Center Pro.

The Launch Center Pro describes itself as a "shortcut launcher and 'Today' widget" - a description that once saw it banned from the App Store for tinkering with the iOS in a way that upset Apple.

The app allows you to create a grid of customised shortcuts that you can access anywhere in your iOS, launching actions rather than apps: swipe down from the top of your screen, and you're able to launch Instagram straight to its camera mode, or create a group text right off the bat, or even (shudder) take a Facebook-posted selfie.

Compatible with functions on over 100,000 apps, it's not exactly the same as the peek and pop options - but it's a good deal cheaper than an iPhone 6S upgrade.
