Sony Has Built An Insane 100mph Drone - Has Skynet Arrived?

If you listen closely, you can practically hear the treads of the automated tanks rolling up to your front door.

A slight exaggeration, but Sony - an electronics company with a background in entertainment electronics, photography, and video games - starts dabbling in drones, you know the future is a scary, unfamiliar place.

The following video shows off Sony's vertical take off VTOL, built in a joint venture with Japanese drone specialist Aerosense Inc. Word is that the drone won't be available for consumer purchase, but rather is being aimed at commercial delivery ventures and surveying groups.

Capable of carrying a 10kg load, the VTOL's projected top speed is a skull-concerning 106mph.

Hisashi Taniguchi, chief executive of Aerospace and ZMP, told The Wall Street Journal that the company is targeting Y10 billion (£53 million) in revenue by 2020.

He was less clear on when they expect to achieve world domination.
