Astonishing R2-D2 Virtual Keyboard

Trashcan qualities aside, R2-D2 has proven itself to be highly useful during its bleep-tastic trails in the Star Wars saga.

So much so that the dwarf droid’s famed holograph video - normally projected to suggest planets, or at the very least a princesses, are in danger - is now being primed for a much more important mission: browsing the web.

Created by Japanese electronics firm Amadana, a new virtual keyboard sees its QWERTY keys beamed onto any flat surface via a model of the famous film character.

Bluetooth enabled, it’s compatible with both the good side and the dark side (MacOSX and Windows 7/8 computers, depending on which you prefer) along with the iPad, iPad Mini, iPod Touch, iPhone, and Android tablets.

Get a pen. It's slated for an August release - which, when you factor in our wait for the upcoming J.J. Abrams film, isn’t really that long at all.
