An altogether more easy-on-the-eye version is this (brief) History Of Time(pieces) poster, lovingly collated by design company Calm The Ham.

It's a visual history of famous watches that exhibits 49 hand-illustrated classics, together with the iconic people famous for wearing them. The Steve McQueen Monaco, the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona and Marty McFly's Casio Twincept Databank are all there; it even keeps it up to date by including the Apple Watch.
