The top 3 best dressed double acts

The top 3 best dressed double acts

The top 3 best dressed double acts
17 July 2013

The comedy double act has long been one of cinema’s favourite tropes, stretching all the way from early Laurel and Hardy to Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in Bad Boys. The stunts may have (arguably) improved over the years, but the premise remains the same –and with the release of The Internship (now in cinemas) comedy duo Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson prove that the format still has legs.

This latest offering sees them star as two ageing salesmen struggling to keep up with the digital age, who manage to land an internship at Google – with predictably ridiculous results.

On-screen capers aside, the actual Hollywood landscape is littered with prestigious real-life double acts/bromances – so let’s allow Style Pilot to take us on journey of the top 3 most dapper duos.

1. Ben Affleck & George Clooney

Affleck and Clooney go together like cookies and cream (in case there was any doubt, Clooney is the cookies). The pair worked together on award season favourite Argo and managed to upstage just about everyone on the collective red carpets with their sharp tailored suits, matching satin lapels and impressive facial fuzz.

2. Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire

Both Leo and Tobey started out in show business from a relatively young age, and both have emerged (against the odds!) very much intact, with successful careers under their very stylish belts. The pair recently starred together in Baz Luhrmann’s decadent adaptation of The Great Gatsby and are regularly snapped together attending Lakers games. Masters of suave red carpet style, Leo favours suits with broad lapels, while Maguire tends to opt for a slimmer fit.

3. Justin Timberlake & Andy Samberg

SNL genius Andy Samberg and comeback king Justin Timberlake both scrub up exceptionally well in a suit and tie – and they’ve got the comedy credentials to match. They may have looked intentionally ridiculous in musical SNL skit Dick in a Box, but in reality Samberg is the master of the casual-preppy look, favouring check plaid shirts and v-neck knits, while JT looks perfectly at home in a single-breasted suit and dickie bow tie.
