Pantone's colour of 2018 is here and ready to level up your wardrobe
08 December 2017

It’s here. It is bloody here. The moment that we’ve all been waited for, stood there, mouths agape, eyes pleading, wanting, Dulux colour chart clamped into our sweating paws… It’s the announcement from colour dons Pantone about their colour of the year.

And it is…

It’s purple.

Well, it’s ‘Ultra Violet’, actually. Pantone speak of the “enigmatic” shade in hushed tones: “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”

Vast and limitless! The mysteries of the cosmos! How can you not get behind that? You and Professor Brian Cox watching documentaries about Soviet space flight on YouTube, cup of Vimto in your hand, baked aubergine melts in your belly. Gorgeous.

It’s actually a great colour to add a pop of life to your wardrobe as you head out of the dark practicality of winter, so why not get ahead of the pack and take advantage of our quick list of Ultra Violet items:
