MODE returns
Danielle de Wolfe
12 September 2011

Cast your mind back to March. It was the month that England claimed victory in the 6 Nations, the world said a final goodbye to divorce-addict Liz Taylor and, here at ShortList, we unleashed the very first issue of glossy style biannual MODE on the UK.

Six months on and we’re gearing up for Issue 2. You’ll be able to pick it up on 20 September — 24 hours ahead of London Fashion Week’s menswear day. And to celebrate, we’ve teamed up with British fashion house Hardy Amies for its show at No1 Mayfair. The must-see show of last season, the last-of-the-day timing means that its Venetian themed spring/summer 2012 collection is sure to impress, too.

The magazine itself will examine below the surface of fashion. Often, looking like a million dollars can actually cost a million dollars. But editor Adrian Clark and his team reveal the secrets that justify the premium prices. This includes a feature on new British tailors, a look at the inner workings of some of the world’s most beautiful watches and an exclusive interview with acclaimed French designer Roland Mouret.

The initial inspiration for the issue as a whole came from the Bauhaus movement of the Twenties. Clark reveals, “The idea that form follows function fascinates me. That’s the essence of the Bauhaus. Suits are cut to fit their purpose, but from that functionality comes great design.”

So look for our distributors peppering the streets earlier than usual next week (on Tuesday). They'll also be there later in the week as usual, too, for the parent edition on Thursday.

And don’t worry if you miss out on getting a copy of MODE, you'll also be able to read it right here on this very website at ShortList.com/MODE. Does it get any better than that? No, of course it bloody doesn’t.
