Milan Fashion Week: Day 3

Milan Fashion Week: Day 3
16 January 2013

Stylist Barnaby Ash reports back on the final day of Milan fashion week and style director Adrian Clark offers his tips on how to get the best grooming look from yesterday's shows

The last day of Milan fashion week kicked off with Dsquared2’s show ‘La Nouvelle Noir’, which was heavily inspired by jazz culture. Weathered work wear was paired with slim and relaxed fit tailoring in a predominantly monochrome palette. The show was a welcome reminder that designer twins Dean and Dan are no strangers to tailoring.

Giorgio Armani presented a broad silhouette that was balanced by clean cut leg wear on a collection that brought together the contrasting worlds of sportswear and classic menswear, all of which came in a neutral Armani colour palette, with the occasional flash of ruby red. The presentation was an uncomplicated but elegant take on the brand's strengths, showcasing a modern and technical approach to reworking sartorial traditions

Diesel Black Gold's latest offering took inspiration from a place where psychedelic rock and interplanetary travel meet, with more than a nod to Jimi Hendrix’s style. Waistcoats and skinny silk scarves came in iridescent fabrics and paisleys made up of stars, planets and UFOs in a palette of deep purple, khaki green and faded violet, black, white, grey and navy. A charming dandyish end to the week.

Grooming Tip

At Diesel Black Gold a bohemian undone look was executed. To achieve the same results opt for L'Oreal Paris Studio Line Matt & Messy Shine Free Salt Spray £3.56 (RRP) for 150ml; stockists 0800-0304 032, which has a matte finish.

Recreate the just-got-out-of-bed look with minimum effort and maximum effect by spritzing this medium hold spray through the shafts of dry hair, which will give hold without weighing it down. The final effect is matte and natural. To revive tired skin use L'Oreal Paris Men Expert Hydra Energetic Turbo Booster £14.29 (RRP) for 50ml; stockists 0800-0304 032.

When skin starts to show signs of tiredness, pores get blocked and the skin becomes dehydrated. Hydra Energetic Turbo Booster is an innovative product from Men Expert that takes the original concept of fighting the signs of fatigue even further by delivering an instant boost of radiance to the skin. The unique formulation contains Vitamin C - the original ingredient of classical Hydra Energetic and Pro-phosphore.
