Marc Newson's new G-Star collection

Ground-breaking designer does denim

Marc Newson's new G-Star collection
28 October 2010

Why be a Jack of all trades when you can master them all? Marc Newson, a man who has designed everything from SMEG ovens, to airport lounges to a spaceplane (and who has work permanently housed at New York's Museum of Modern Art, the London Design Museum and the Pompidou centre in Paris) has produced another stand-out collection for G-Star RAW.

For the label's Autumn-Winter 2010 collection, Newson has continued his experimentation with high-tech design structures, while keeping the look unfussy, the lines clean and focusing on the clothing's relationship with denim.

The collection is made up of three very distinct parts: a base range of sweats that also includes a worker jacket and jeans in Japanese selvedge denim and wrinkled poly-cotton; a lively graphic-heavy range that includes the Transformer Puffer Jacket with removable and reversible sleeves; and an exclusive range that integrates pieces from Newson’s Limited Collection, such as the Cloud Jacket, a fully taped and glued high-performance Goretex waterproof and a super-soft leather jacket.
