A trip to your favourite style locations can now also include a well-deserved grooming pit stop

PANKHURST AT NICK TENTIS, LONDON

Shoddy grooming is undoubtedly the quickest and most common way to undercut the impact of a perfectly tailored suit. If you’re going to invest in some of Tentis’s understated threads, make sure you stop by the chair of Brent Pankhurst (pictured), master barber to London’s style-conscious CEOs, for a quick overhaul in the form of a wet shave and haircut, or a massage such as the ‘friction scalp’, hot towel or neck and shoulders. You can also get your nails groomed and an express facial while you’re in the chair. And before you leave, you may as well pick up one of his stellar styling products, too.

Average price: £50 for a haircut, £40 for a wet shave. 37 Savile Row, W1; pankhurstlondon.com

ELEMIS SPA POD AT HARVEY NICHOLS, EDINBURGH

Ease the pain of spending the month’s rent on a pair of shoes with one of Elemis’s SpaPod express treatments, which are conducted in a private room where you can have a snooze. Well worth a visit, if only for a go in one of its state of-the-art treatment chairs, which measure the length of your spine and bodyweight before warming up and delivering a personalised massage.

Average price: £45 for a 30min treatment. 34 St Andrew Sq, EH2; harveynichols.com

GENTLEMEN’S TONICAT GIEVES & HAWKES, LONDON

The gentlemen’s emporium of Savile Row that sells everything from bow ties to turn-of-the-century antiques now houses a concession from our favourite man spa. Gentlemen’s Tonic treatments run the gamut from a basic haircut to ‘The Hemingway’: a package deal designed to alleviate the agony of a hangover by way of a bloody Mary, aromatherapy facial and massage.

Average price: £48 for a cut and finish. 1 Savile Row, W1; gentlemenstonic.com

URBAN RETREAT AT HARVEY NICHOLS, MANCHESTER

The Mancunian branch of Urban Retreat rounds up the city’s best therapists, pairs them with the world’s best brands and puts them under one convenient roof. Arguably the city’s swankiest day spa, it’s a destination in itself rather than a pit stop in a shopping centre. Indulge in the Urban Retreat Men’s Package which packs in a Murad AHA Rapid Exfoliator Facial, Man-icure and brow shape.

Average price: £38 for a haircut. 21 New Cathedral St, M1; urbanretreat.co.uk

SHARPS AT TOPMAN, LONDON

Just round the corner from Savile Row but a different universe altogether, Topman now provides ‘prepping’ from New York-born barbershop Sharps. Younger and considerably more lighthearted than its neighbours, Sharps offers respite from the shop floor with a basic wash, cut and style or — if your morning shave plays out like a B movie bloodbath — a one-to-one tutorial with one of its barbers.

Average price: £31 for a hot-towel shave. 214 Oxford St, W1; sharpsbarbers.com
