Tommy Hilfiger’s promise to the third world

You don’t need to be a red paint-flinging Peta protester to know that fashion and ethics haven’t always mixed.

But the latest attempt to redress the balance comes in the form of a new African-themed capsule collection from Tommy Hilfiger – conceived entirely to benefit an international aid charity.

The Promise Collection will donate 100 per cent of its proceeds to the Millennium Promise Foundation’s work in sub-Saharan Africa to tackle poverty, hunger and preventable disease. And thankfully, this generous gesture is backed by quality clothing including Massai-inspired batik print shorts (£75) and preppy polo shirts in bold colours (£70).

The limited-edition range, and its resultant feeling of good karma, is available now until the end of July.
