Selfridges Birmingham Comes Out Guns Blazing

As every man and their well-groomed dog has been going doolally for London Fashion Week of late, it's worth remembering that the sartorial battleground remains a nationwide thing. But you needn't wait for ShortList's forthcoming biannual fashion magazine MODE to tell you all that...

Selfridges Birmingham has just revealed the biggest and potentially most exclusive menswear destination in the entire city.

It's a real statement of intent from Selfridges, who have been a Brum institution since their iconic building opened 12 years ago. With a fashion heavy redevelopment at the Mailbox and the construction of Birmingham's Grand Central (complete with a John Lewis), Selfridges are staking their claim on menswear all guns blazing. And we like what we see.

With over 100 labels, the newly renovated department boasts a wonderful wardrobe upgrading, potentially wallet bothering brand list of beauties including Burberry, Michael Kors, Giuseppe Zanotti, Valentino, DSquared, Belstaff, A Bathing Ape, Off-White, Hunter, Canada Goose, Zegna... deep breath... Tiger of Sweden, Trapstar, Hood By Air, J Brand and Evisu - all of which can't be found anywhere else in the city.

Taking up the whole of Level 2 the department now includes a jeans Elysium; a Denim Studio, with more than 150 denim styles, priced between £65 and £350.

And, with Burberry opening its first in-store boutique and Paul Smith unveiling luxury fittings with floor-to-ceiling carrian marble features, the whole place is more than a little pleasing on the eye.

Your move, everybody else.
