You Can 3D Print Your Own Crossguard Lightsaber

If there was one thing that got Star Wars fans in more of a flap than anything else with the release of the recent trailer for The Force Awakens, it was the fleeting, but important, glimpse of a new lightsaber.

Exactly what form this new lightsaber takes was a source of yet more flap - was it a crossguard? Would that even be effective? Was it another sort of 'jab' weapon? Why would you have that when you've got a main beam already? So many questions that we're sure next year's release will answer.

But, in the meantime, what's important for any self-respecting fan is to have your own version of the latest model. And Wicked Lasers have provided just the thing.

Starting with the existing Spyder III Inferno model, and then adapting it with a pair of front surface mirrors to split the laser beam, they've released instructions for you to be able to print your very own version of the new lightsaber. Unfortunately, as it's a laser, the beams won't stop, but rather go on until they hit something, but it's extremely cool nonetheless - not least as a hugely entertaining cat distraction toy (try not to burn it in the eye though).
