All the places Trump is visiting in the UK, where you can protest and where to see the Trump Baby
13 July 2018

History is happening today with the visit by US President Donald Trump to the UK. The controversial leader has already trashed PM Theresa May and London Mayor Sadiq Khan - and hold your breath for his meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle.

But plenty of people are getting ready to let the president know – with giant blimps and mass marches through the streets – that he’s not welcome in the UK.

The mayor’s Greater London Authority recently approved a request for the giant baby blimp flight after thousands signed a petition and a crowdfunding campaign raised more than £16,000 for the six-metre inflatable.

And a spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “The Mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms.

“His city operations team have met with the organisers and have given them permission to use Parliament Square Garden as a grounding point for the blimp.”

You can catch a glimpse of the Trump baby by heading down to Parliament Square from 9.30am until 11.30am today.

On their crowdfunder page, the organisers of the blimp protest added: “Donald Trump is a big, angry baby with a fragile ego and tiny hands.

“He’s also racist demagogue who is a danger to women, immigrants and minorities and a mortal threat to world peace and the very future of life on earth. Moral outrage is water off a duck’s back to Trump. But he really seems to hate it when people make fun of him.

“So when Trump visits the UK on Friday the 13th of July this year, we want to make sure he knows that all of Britain is looking down on him and laughing at him. That’s why a group of us have chipped in and raised enough money to have a 6 meter high blimp made by a professional inflatables company, to be flown in the skies over Parliament Square during Trump’s visit.”

This is Trump’s full schedule – and details about where you can protest him, if you’re so inclined.

After arriving at Stansted airport yesterday, President Trump and First Lady Melania attended a black-tie dinner at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, hosted by the prime minister.

This morning, he’ll meet Theresa May again at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, to watch a military demonstration.

He’ll then head to the PM’s country retreat of Chequers, in Buckinghamshire, for a working lunch.

Trump’s final activity on Friday will be a meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle.

The president will be spending Saturday at the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, before heading off for a meeting with Putin in Helsinki.

According to the Evening Standard, the main anti-Trump protest will take place in London on Friday from 2pm. The rally, organised and promoted by Owen Jones, is expected to draw thousands of protesters.

Marchers will unite in Portland Place and walk down Regents Street and Haymarket before finishing in Trafalgar Square, where a rally will take place between 5pm and 7pm.

Earlier in the day, a separate women’s march – using the hashtag #BringTheNoise – will take place along the same route.
