Where the heartbroken go to grieve/drink

Outpouring of grief could have ended in tears. More so.

Where the heartbroken go to grieve/drink

Lovelorn Li Wang kept police and rescuers at bay for more than three hours when he went on a marathon booze session - on top of a 120,000 volt high-tension power line.

Wang, who'd just been dumped by his girlfriend, climbed the power tower with bottles of drink in his pockets and refused to come down until he'd drowned his sorrow.

Rescuers eventually managed to grab him when he slumped unconscious on the pole in Chengdu, Sichuan province, southern China.

"We didn't know whether he was going to break his neck in a fall when he passed out or fry himself alive on the electric power lines. He was very lucky," said a fire service spokesman.
