A wealthy Norwegian man has been contacted by police to reclaim a luxury yacht after apparently forgetting that he owned it.
The Rinker 342 Fiesta Vee (an example of which is above), worth £65,000, had been floating in a harbour in the Swedish town of Stromstad for at least two years without ever being visited. Throughout this time, the keys for the boat were tied to the railings, meaning anyone could have taken it and driven it off.
Police keen to contact the owner, in order to pay mooring fees, initially issued an appeal on Facebook, which was then picked up by the Norwegian media. Yesterday, the owner finally came forward and said he had forgotten about it - he had intended to sell the vessel in 2012 but was unaware that he hadn't gone through with it.
He is now collecting the craft and has to pay the backdated harbour dues. Boat-ily ridiculous.
