Uber is coming to Facebook Messenger
17 December 2015

Some good news if you hate the 21st century hassle of clicking between apps (what a chore).

Facebook users will now be able to hail and Uber cab directly in their Messenger app thanks to a new sponsored_longform between the two companies.

Coming hot on the heels of UberPOOL, “Uber on Messenger” is a new way for people to get about town and wake up regretting the price of an online receipt.

"With the ability to request, view, and pay for an Uber ride in Messenger, taking your next ride is as simple as sending a message," Uber said via statement on its blog.

Powered by the Uber app tech, the sponsored_longform will allow you to converse with your driver in private Facebook conversation, and has the added ability for users to send destinations and current Uber trips to friends.

Rolling out across the US today, Uber and Facebook have said they'll mark the sponsored_longform in company tradition by offering users their first $20 ride for free.

Expanding throughout Uber territories in the months to come, the service also marks Facebook’s first venture into the transportation business so who knows what's next. Pizza delivery service anyone?
