Not really sure what’s going on here to be honest
Trump and Kim Jong-un met this week, and had a handshake, and said some things, and now the entire world has been saved, or something. Who knows.
But what is sure, is that before and during the meeting, something rather peculiar happened - Trump showed both Kim and some journalists a really weird four-minute-long movie trailer for a film that doesn’t exist - our heads hurt. It even says “featuring President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong-un” - remember, this is not for a film, this is for “real life”.
It is so strange:
Like: “Destiny Pictures presents: a story of opportunity.” What is this? Is it the most Trump thing that has ever been seen? The answer is yes, the answer is 100% yes, you’ve never seen anything this Trump.
Slo-mo footage of Trump and Kim, inter-cut with scenes of the proposed bright future of North Korea, all set underneath a Hollywood trailer-guy narration saying tagline-heavy things like:
“History is always evolving, and there comes a time when only a few are called upon to make a difference.
“But the question is — what difference will the few make? The past doesn’t have to be the future. Out of the darkness can come the light, and the light of hope can burn bright.”
All that’s missing is Vin Diesel to walk away from an explosion.
According to Trump, he is confident of Kim’s positive reaction to the video, telling a press conference “I think he loved it.” While Kim seems to be more on-the-money with the whole thing, telling a translator that it was like “a science-fiction movie”.
Still, this is the world now, and this is how things work - they work by not making a jot of sense, but you’ve gotta swallow it nonetheless. There’s no point in questioning anything anymore. Just let it happen. We’re all going to die anyway.
