Anyone who has had the utter misfortune of going to Charing Cross station knows that the journey from street level to platform is no small feat. 

If it feels like the TFL and Boris are transport overlords are plotting against you, it's because they are. It takes a full seven minutes to get from street level to platform at Charing Cross. SEVEN. 

Which can feel like a journey of proportions akin to Frodo's walk to Mordor when you are stumbling out of Gordon's Wine Bar trying to find your way home.
