The superb superhero alphabet
05 June 2015

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the letter S.

Which is silly on two counts. Foremost, because Simon Koay's Superbet marries Marvel's Spider-Man to the letter S, so DC's Superman is an inaccurate reference point. And secondly, because we all know the letter S looks nothing like a plane.

The Superbet is, in Koay's words, "a typographic exploration of alphabet design by reimagining each letter of the alphabet as everyone's favourite superheroes and supervillains". Featuring fantastical 3D lettering in a variety of caped poses, the typeface series gives the traditional "A is for Apple" sequence a seriously bloody nose.

You can buy each letter for £12 from Koay's Society6 page. Here's hoping he follows it up with a Sci-Fi number chart.
