The makers of this innovative new tool certainly know which side their bread is buttered on.

Well, given that Sydney-based designers Sacha Pantschenko, Norman Oliveria and Craig Andrews could well have armed Mankind with the best weapon in our ongoing struggles with butter and toast, they can choose whatever side they like really.

Designed with a row of exactly-cut holes on the blunt edge of the blade, the knife allows the person using it to grate the butter, essentially, loading up the knife for some smooth stick-to-toast transition. Simple but nonetheless ingenious.

Which is why the product has already obliterated its Kickstarter goal of £38,000 AUD and currently on its way to $150,000, with some internet backers opting for $12 per unit with a delivery date of March 2015, and others paying $60 for a delivery sometime next month.

As for us? We might wait until the designers include an electric shock setting - for anyone who leaves crumbs on the stick of butter.
