And you thought it was just for bottles of wine...

The cork tree house unveiled

Hands up anyone who’s off to one of those rather popular music festivals this summer? Ah, quite a few of you. Well, we bring you adventurous outdoor types news of the latest in cutting edge tent design.

Please be upstanding, ladies and gentleman, for the, drum roll please, Cork Tree House. That’s right a tree house, more like a space capsule actually, made entirely out of wine guzzlers’ favourite material, cork.

The ingenious system is the brainwave of Portuguese designers Dideia and we have to say we’re mightily impressed.

Not only does it look great, it will keep merry campers warm at night, thanks to cork’s natural insulating properties, and even more importantly it’s environmentally friendly too as no dangerous chemicals are involved in its construction.

Moreover, unlike even the most user-friendly of tents, it’s dead easy to assemble – all that’s required is air to be pumped into the capsule. And once all the air is out, it folds down into a handy carry bag.

Expect to see the likes of Thom Yorke using one backstage at Glastonbury this year.
