Unlike Mr Soft, that laidback icon of our youth, we walk down the street and find it a depressingly sedate and brittle experience.
We're not sure if Monsieur Soft was even a thing in France (we doubt it) but artist Benjamin Boré has given them a taste of what it must feel like to walk in his shoes.
The 'La Ville Molle' installation, which translates as 'The Soft City' and yes, we had to Google Translate that, had Boré embed a water-filled pouch underneath a portion of the street and then let people, and a rather bemused dog, have some fun.
We'd like to see this on our streets sharpish, except when we're hungover.
More of his work can be found here.
