The Abashiri Blue Beer

Blue Moon, Blue Pabst Ribbon and any other beer preceded by the word ‘blue’ - you’ve been doing it wrong this whole time.

Take note from the geniuses at the Abashiri beer company in Japan, the forces behind the most literal ‘Blue’ beer yet. And should you be wondering how they've achieved this aqua tinge without resorting to pilfering alcohol found in mouthwashes, let us fill you in…

Using the water of melted icebergs (so that’s who’s behind it all) from the Sea Of Okhotsk off the coast of Japan, the brew is then mixed with blue seaweed and local flowers, giving it not only a light taste and freshness but those obvious hue-like qualities you see before you.

Pour it into a glass slowly and your beer’s head will look like ice (said to be due to the additional ingredient of Chinese Yam). Pour it fast, and, well, it might just seem like you’re pouring blueberry soda, if blueberry soda were even a real thing anymore.

Best of all, while this crazy drink has been available to buy over in Japan for a handful of years now, it’s now available in the US, UK and beyond thanks to Firebox.com, the firm now shipping the drink in the UK. A four-pack starts from a reasonable £12.99. We expect a US release to follow soon.

After this you'll never look at your regular pub-bought pint the same way again.
