The £9,000 iPhone Speakers

With a name like Zero 1, expectations of a futuristic nature are to be expected, or at the very least maximum taste and zero sugar.

Though quite what Avantgarde Acoustic have achieved with their latest piece of audio design, a lofty, space-age looking pair of speakers fit for an iPhone, goes way beyond technological design, never mind soft drinks.

For starters, the hardware comes with a staggering if justified price-tag of £9,000. Why justified, you ask? Weighing in at an impressive 40kg, the 3.4ft tall pair of speakers, available in white or black, are integrated with XA amplifier technology usually worth £17,000 alone.

Armed with 50 Watt horns (using recessed spherical waves to give as smooth a sound possible) and a 400 Watt bass woofer, the wiry innards also use digital processing accurate to one-millionth of a second, proving plenty of bang for a buyer's buck.

Naturally, this means hooking your iPod straight up to the aerodynamically handsome amplifiers will give your iTunes library a sound like never before.

Expect maximum taste and zero bank balance.
