New World’s Most Expensive Hot Dog

If you're buying food at a sports game, here or in the US, chances are you're getting ripped off. Since you have nowhere else to go, you're forced into spending a frustrating amount of money on something your cat would probably turn his nose up at.

Chances are, you've never forked out $80 on a hot dog though.

Brockton Rox, a baseball team from Boston, celebrated National Hot Dog Day (yes that's a thing) by trying to break the record for the world's most expensive dog.

To do this they used a half-pound, all-beef hot dog rolled in truffle oil, coated it in porcini dust, sprinkled it with white truffle shavings and then topped with crème fraiche, fresh roe and caviar. It was then served in a blini roll.

It even managed to find itself a customer in the shape of a Japanese film producer who sent a photographer to document its production before it was shipped to his New York address.

Might make you feel a little bit less guilty for forking out £4 on balti pie and Bovril roll next time you go see a match.
