The 300mph Jet-Propelled Luge

Don’t worry, we know exactly what you’re thinking: luging down hills at 100mph isn't nearly dangerous enough; when will someone add some jet turbo engines and clock speeds of over 300mph already?

Look no further than Australian Daz Fellows. The former stunt man is currently assembling what he ominously dubs a mix of “skateboard” and “giant fuel tank”, making the art of luging – lying down, steering by shifting your body side to side, only using the soles of your shoes to brake – even more daring.

With the twin engine producing 190 pounds of thrust each, with afterburners on top of that, the luge’s fibreglass frame should see it more than double the top speeds that standard (non-rocket propelled) luges achieve.

So far it’s cost him $80,000, though unless he has designs on crashing through the side of a building, he might want to invest in some sturdy shoes.
