One of the studio’s long-time animators, Yoshiharu Sato, has just finished a brilliant new ad for Satsuma Shieranami (a popular brand of traditional barley and sweet potato liquor Shōchū), bearing the same dream-like hallmarks, superb visuals and drama-upping focusing techniques of the studio’s biggest hits - drinks advertisers over here could learn a thing or two.
With mastermind Hayao Miyazaki recently announcing his retirement, and with it the hiatus of Studio Ghibli, this advert is just the tonic we need right now.
