Star Wars Anime Shows The Action From The Empire's Perspective

Admit it, the Empire was always the cooler one…

For one, you get less noticeable stains on your uniform. For another, Tie Fighters are far niftier than those cumbersome X-Wings; and the double-bladed lightsaber? Sign us up.

It’s even more difficult not to root for the Empire when you get an eyeful of this excellent new short animation by Paul Johnson, shifting the perspective of the space battles that ensue between the Jedi-backed Republic and the Sith-led Empire in splendidly eighties anime fashion.

Tie Fighter takes us belly deep inside the cockpit of the titular metallic menace, hot on the tail of some pesky Rebel cruisers. One other major coup is that the nostalgia-tinged action even comes with a rocking power rock score - a welcome change from John Williams' stuffy orchestral noise and even more reason to appreciate these once faceless pilots.

Besides, any excuse to take aim at Jar Jar Binks is a worthy one.
