How many emails do you send a day. If it rhymes with lit shoads then you're in the same boat as workers at Atos, a huge IT company in France.
Oddly, despite their line of work, their CEO is banning all 74,000 employees in 42 different countries fromsending emails.
Thierry Breton believes that 90% of the emails sent and received are pointless: "It is not right that some of our fellow employees spend hours in the evening dealing with their emails." He told The Telegraph.
"The email is no longer the appropriate tool. The deluge of information will be one of the most important problems a company will have to face. It is time to think differently."
Breton is keen on phasing out emails over the next 18 months. He has also apparently not sent an email himself in the last three years.
"If people want to talk to me, they can come and visit me, call or send me a text message. Emails cannot replace the spoken word."
Breton wants to introduce a collaborative chat service inspired by Facebook and Twitter instead.
