Russian company to name alcoholic drink after Gaddafi

Russian booze outfit Alexandr’s Cellars is going to produce and sell an alcoholic drink in Russia named after Libya's late dictator and all round madman Muammar Gaddafi.

The company, a subsidiary of Rusimport, Russia’s largest producer and importer of liqueur and vodka, has filed an application for the registration of the Commendatore Muammar trademark to the national patent office.

The trademark’s image features Cuban Revolutionary leader Che Guevera.

Russian retailers frequently use the names and images of famous political figures on grog. In 2003, Putinka vodka, named afterthen-president Vladimir Putin, was launched and, a year later, obviously became Russia’s best-selling vodka.
