George R R Martin doesn't do small. His books spread over 800 pages, his fictional lore rivals that of Tolkien and his idea of a pet is a dragon. And that's before you cover the length of his character kill list.
To help gain a sense of the scales involved in Martin's Song of Ice and Fire and it's superb HBO adaptation, the measure-happy minds of Daily Dot have conspired with designers Max Fleishman and Theresa Garritano to create a rather brilliant size-revealing infographic.
While it doesn't claim to be a definitive guide, the scales are a helpful pointer toward the distances and sizes the world of Westeros deals in. Based on information gathered from the books, comments made by Martin and other interview material (such as the 300-mile length of the Wall or the half-million population of King's Landing), it helps pin down the size of structures, populations and - most importantly - dragons.
Here's hoping that Drogon grows up to be just like his great, great, great (etc.) granddragon Balerion.
