Pope's Doves of Peace Attacked by Crow and Seagull

Pope's Doves of Peace Attacked by Crow and Seagull
27 January 2014

They were released as doves of peace, but they were attacked by birds of pray.

Two white birds released by children stood alongside Pope Francis during an adress from the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican were yesterday savaged by two birds - a crow and a seagull - who were lying in wait. Onlookers described that one dove managed to escape from the seagull, losing feathers in the process, but the crow repeatedly pecked at the other. They eventually escaped but the full extent of their injuries is unknown.

The annual "Caravan of Peace" event saw the Pope plead for peace in the Ukraine, along with the rest of the world but, while he might have a direct line to God, he clearly hadn't informed the local bird population of the need for harmony and non-aggression.
