If being the leader of the free world doesn’t work out, Barack Obama can be sure of a career as a stand-up.

Or at least he is after he fired off a brilliant response to heckler during a Pride Month reception at the White House yesterday, taking it all in before coolly retorting, “Listen, you’re in my house.” Cue a rippling wave of cheers and applause for the witty riposte.

As the yelling intensified, Obama simply waved his finger and let his displeasure be known, adding “Shame on you”. The troublemaker was then escorted off by White House staff as the rest of the audience started chanting “O-Ba-Ma” with all the gusto of a crowd wolfing down hot dogs at a little league baseball game. It was a verbal home run all right.

It was later revealed the campaigner was Jennicet Gutiérrez, an LGBT advocacy organizations activist seeking the immediate release of transgender immigration detainees – which you can read about here as it’s a serious issue worth talking about.

As for Obama, on the basis of this he might want to hire Jimmy Carr as his speech writer.
