Here's another one for the Kim Jong-un how-to-be-a-dictator scrapbook: it now appears that every man in North Korea will be forced to copy his haircut.
Haircuts, like most aspects of daily life for North Koreans, have been controlled for a while, with women able to choose from 18 approved styles and men from 10, but it seems even that aspect of choice has now been denied them, with purely the 'Jong-un' now available.
Radio Free Asia reports that for the last two weeks, men are allowed to have the 'Dear Leader Kim Jong-un' haircut only. Apparently the decree received a 'nationwide backlash' but, surprisingly, this has been ignored.
A source said “Our leader’s haircut is very particular, if you will. It doesn’t always go with everyone since everyone has different face and head shapes. It started from [the] capital Pyongyang, and [is] now spreading all across the country.”
The style is fairly unpopular due to Korean's belief that it resembles the haircut of Chinese smugglers: however, it seems they'll have to put up with it, for now at least.
At least Kim hasn't gone for the mullet, we suppose.
