Moon Mat

Like sleeping on another planet...

Moon Mat

While great advances have been made in space tourism over recent years, with promises of a space hotel by 2016, that experience is likely to set you back a bob or two. And unless NASA starts allowing people without astrophysics degrees onto their astronaut 101 programme (clearly the official title), it's unlikely we’ll be making it up into the atmosphere any time soon.

Luckily, designer Lily Suh of i3Lab has collaborated with astronomy photographers to produce bed-furnishings that look like the moon, so you can at least pretend you've travelled into those heady heights. Based in Korea, Suh used photographs of the moon taken from various locations in the world and then transferred the images on to mattresses, rugs and cushions.

The range includes the Blue Moon Waltz rug, Nocturne by Moon cushion and the large-scale Full Moon Odyssey floor-mattress (pictured),which costs £509. Still, it's a lot cheaper than paying to go there.

(Note: Rug is not actual moon size).
