We’ve all become accustomed to buying pretty much what we want online. However, never in our wildest dreams (and believe us, they get pretty daft) did we expect to be bidding on the chance to own the HMS Ark Royal.
Nor did we think we’d get the chance to buy a watch usually handed out by the Ministry of Defence to ensure that SAS troops blend effortlessly into the hullabaloo at overseas embassy parties.
And never did we anticipate we’d be tempted to buy a walk-in fridge just because it was once used by the armed forces. However, because the Ministry of Defence is effectively skint – it has a £36 million black whole to fill – you and I can get our mitts on any of the above items, and more besides.
Fancy a £5 million Gazelle helicopter at the knockdown price of £100,000 or a portable dentist’s chair? Just head to the MoD’s Equipment and Sales website and you can fill your boots. Which, no doubt, you can also buy online too.
Just make sure the baddies don’t buy all the equipment and then turn it on us, eh?
