Martin Keown Hit On The Head By A Ball

The life of a football pundit is meant to be a sedate one. Rock up to a few games, offer a few platitudes about how the game was much better in your day, blah, blah, blah and get hit in the head by a ball.

Er, we’re sure Martin Keown didn’t sign up for the latter when he returned to Arsenal last night to offer ‘expert’ analysis, alongside Robbie Savage, on his former team’s third round FA Cup tie with Leeds United.

But take a ball to the head he did. While discussing the noble art of tackling (the gist of which, things were better in his day) a Leeds player ‘accidentally’ whacked a ball in his direction.

Maybe it was a disguised Ruud van Nistelrooy come to take revenge for Keown’s antics at Old Trafford back in 2003? No? What about Arsene Wenger seeing if Keown’s reactions were still up to scratch? Get him to do a job alongside another recalled Arsenal legend Thierry Henry? No? A fluke? Surely not.

And, ermmm, speaking of footballs, heads and pundits...
